Welcome to Alliance News

Alliance News is where the American Children's Alliance shares what we're doing, what we're learning, and what Tampa Bay families need to know about special-needs advocacy, education, and community service.

A new home for what we're doing

American Children's Alliance is a Tampa Bay 501(c)(3) supporting children with disabilities, the veterans of Pasco County, and the military families of MacDill — through scholarships, service visits, and the work of being in the community we live in. We were founded in 2024 by parents and volunteers who saw the gap and decided to do something about it.

This page, Alliance News, is where we share what we're doing, what we're learning, and what we think matters for families, advocates, and partners in our corner of Florida.

What you can expect

Alliance News will cover three kinds of posts:

Events — What ACA is actually doing. Scholarship cycles, our students' service visits with veterans at Pasco County VA nursing homes, care packages for military families, community gatherings. Short posts with real photos from real work.

Advocacy — Florida legislative updates that affect children with disabilities, federal policy changes parents should know about, and advocacy positions ACA takes as the work grows. National orgs do national work. We're going to do Florida work.

Resources — Practical guides for families. IEP basics. Florida Medicaid waiver walkthroughs. Scholarship resources. The things families of special-needs kids actually need to navigate day-to-day. These are evergreen — written once, updated as laws change.

Local, focused, built to last

What Tampa Bay families need is someone who shows up locally, knows the names of the counties involved, and does the work where they live. That's what ACA is. That's what Alliance News will reflect.

If you have a story you want shared, a question you want answered, or a resource you wish existed — tell us. Every post we publish starts with a real need from the community we serve.

— The ACA team
